Local and national media representatives were guests of Rakita so they could get to know the realization of geological exploration project ‘Timok’ so far, at the Cukaru Peki deposit, and also the plans for the next period.
Managing Director of Rakita, Timothy Livesey, introduced to the press basic information about the Company history, ownership structure, as well as the fact that Canadian Company ‘Nevsun’ owns 100% share in the ‘Upper zone’ of the Cukaru Peki deposit, while the ‘Lower zone’ of the deposit is in joint ownership with the American mining corporation Freeport McMoRan.
Livesey explained to the press that the current study analysis show the possibility for starting underground exploitation of the ‘Upper Zone’ at a depth of 450 to 850 m.
As it was heard at the conference, the access to the Upper Zone will be provided through the tunnel with a slope, or an incline, which will primarily be used for the purpose of sampling for technological tests.
After the conference and presenting the information, a tour of exploration wells has been organised for the journalists. Representatives of the media had a chance to take pictures and shoot the drill set which reached the depth of 2,251 m.
