Bearing in mind the importance of quality and consistent communication with the representatives of local communities, especially the villages of Brestovac, Slatina and Metovnica, which are of strategic interest for the construction of the mine in the area of Cukaru Peki deposit, the project director Jerzy Orzechowski and his associates held a meeting with the local community council members of these three villages.
Contributions to the local community, environmental protection and youth employment by Rakita, were the main topics discussed at the table during the talks. As we have heard from the leaders of rural local communities, it is expected that the opening of the mine should reduce unemployment of young people in these areas, as young people leave in searching for jobs.
On the other hand, the century-long mining tradition in Bor has greatly influenced the environment, so the inhabitants of these villages are very interested in activities that are focused on nature protection. The high ecological standards that apply to the project implementation will by all means include all segments of protection.
In addition to these regular meetings with the residents of rural local communities, employees working in the Rakita Land Acquisition Department visit Brestovac every Wednesday and the village of Slatina every Thursday, which principally enables the village residents to get completely informed about every project segment.
