Position title:    Health and Safety Coordinator

  1. Objective:
  • Control of occupational Health and Safety measurements on work positions at Employer, as well as at contractors and subcontractors.
  1. Primary activities and tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:
  • Coordinates and organizes implementation of health and safety on work, cooperates and organizes work with contractors and subcontractors;
  • Coordinates and organizes implementation of risk assessment process regarding work related injuries, occupational deceases and deceases related to work and participates in making of Risk Assessment Act;
  • Proposes changes and additions to Risk Assessment Act in case there are justified reasons;
  • Coordinates and organizes implementation of Health and Safety measures in case of work process changes, changes of locations or other changes;
  • Enforces implementation of law and other requirements and complies with all relevant laws and other regulations in the field of Health and Safety;
  • Enforces internal controls of Health and Safety System in accordance with requirements set by Law and relevant standards in the field of Health and Safety;
  • Participates in the making of all internal manuals, procedures and Health and Safety rules, and especially provides support with the improvement of H&S Management System in accordance with relevant standards;
  • Compiles Health and Safety reports on basic of analysis and statistics regarding occupational Health and Safety, acquired from Health and Safety Manager;
  • Coordinates and organizes changes of internal policies and rulebooks in accordance with changes of relevant laws and regulations, or Employer’s procedures and requirements;
  • Defines short term and specific goals, plans and programs for improving HSE Management System;
  • Coordinates and organizes making of internal Health and Safety rules and regulations;
  • Collects mandatory occupational Health and Safety records;
  • Collects data for reports on occupational Health and Safety system for management, interested organizations and public in regards to occupational Health and Safety system;
  • Constantly innovates and improves own knowledge and coordinates employee HSE training and education;
  • Ensures periodical checks and tests for equipment, devices and work installations and implementation of mandatory instructions for safe work;
  • Enforces periodical checks and tests for equipment, electrical installations, chemical and physical dangers, illumination and microclimate factors in work environment, in cooperation with certified organizations;
  • Ensures usage of proper personal protective equipment and its adequate maintenance;
  • Orders employee assignment to proper work positions, in accordance to medical reports and analysis;
  • Participates in the process of employee HSE training and education;
  • On basis H&S Manager’s proposal, coordinates and determines existence of reasons which justify suspension of work in case of immediate danger to life and health of employees or ban of usage of defective work equipment and personal protection equipment and informs H&S Manager;
  • Coordinates and runs investigations of incidents and acting in cases of work-related injuries, providing first aid and occupational injurie reporting;
  • Coordinates and provides implementation of other measures determined by law, other regulation or internal company rules;
  • Reports timely and accurately to his superior and is responsible for data accuracy,
  • Adhering to ethical principles of the profession and acting in accordance with company policies and procedures,
  • Performing other duties within their education at the request of the immediate superior,
  • He/she is obliged and responsible, within the scope of his/her work, to implement measures for safe and healthy work in accordance with the safety and health at work, other relevant regulations and the Rules on Safety and Health at Work,
  • Observing environmental measures and fire protection within the scope of his/her duties,
  • Participating in ensuring the functioning of the quality system in accordance with quality standards.

  • This position reports to Health, Safety and Environmental protection Manager.
  1. Department:
  • Health, Safety and Environmental protection Department.
  1. Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position has supervisory responsibilities.
  1. Education and/or Experience, Certificates:
  • Acquired higher education in the field of occupational health and safety and mining;
  • Acquired state exam;
  • Minimum 3 years of previous work experience in performing same or similar jobs;
  • Driver’s License – B category;
  • Excellent computer skills and
  • Excellent English level.
  1. Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Previous experience in mining industry, especially in underground exploitation, shall be considered as an advantage;
  • Excellent level written and verbal communication skills,
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability,
  • Excellent planning and organization skills to meet deadlines,
  • Able to perform job function with a minimum of daily supervision,
  • Ability to learn effectively and actively,
  • Co-operative and supportive team player.
